It gives me the greatest *pleasure* to introduce my ‘brand new website’ and debut collection ‘smallprint’ (a capsule range produced from vintage Japanese kimonos). Over the last couple of months, I have been working closely with my website designer and together we have produced a site that I am truly proud of. I really hope that you enjoy it and of course would be very happy to hear your feedback and pass it on accordingly…Thank you ’so’ much Matthew Hicks.
My family and friends will tell you; I am very passionate about what I am doing, having returned to university at a later stage in life to follow my dreams of becoming a fashion designer.
I hope to share an idea and drive ‘responsible’ fashion forward.
What many designers fail to realise, is this huge gap in the market, a gap that is crying out for radical, directional designs. The real challenge and the fuel for an inquisitive mind, is to find solutions and incorporate a meaningful concoction of ingredients, adding true value to every piece. From fabric choice, to product longevity, to looking out for the individuals who have contributed to every garment… I could go on forever!
Personally, I feel that we are armed with such an influential tool and if we use it well, we can make a positive difference. I am just a normal, open minded individual and hold my hands up to leaving the tap running at times and getting the recycling bins confused, but I am prepared to learn and I am always willing to try. If I can inspire other designers to take a more thoughtful approach to design and running a fashion label, I will be very *happy*. Innovation and compassion are key.
Back to my pattern cutting/designs now, Spring/Summer 2010, is really starting to take shape, and I can really see Florence (…from Florence and the Machine) and Sophie Ellis Bextor wearing most of the pieces! I will be showing ‘Miss Butterfly’, at Estethica, London Fashion Week in September 2009, I am very excited and its certainly an achievement. This time last year I had just graduated from the LCF and I was out in South Africa designing for a charity…’Beautiful Soul’ was just a ‘thought’ in my head. …The hard work is starting to pay off.
…Until the next time,
Nicola xxx

Congratulations Nicola! I love the uniqueness of your website – the fabric background is GORGEOUS. I wish you all the best with Beautiful Soul – the garments are so sumptuous and…well…truely amazing. I look forward to working with you to promote this through Ascension. xx
Many congratulations Nicola. The website is looking fantastic! Very fresh.
As to the ethos of Beatiful Soul, it’s really interesting and good to see someone acting in another industry (fashion) taking the initiative to innovate and implement a model that considers environmental and sustainable aspects.
Today’s innovators are tomorrow’s leaders and hopefully Beautiful Soul, through its designs, will be paving the way for new approaches and methodologies in the fashion industry.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
A beautifully presented, clear and very creative website. This is truly the beginning of an exciting new chapter for the creative team at Beautiful Soul. I wish you all the best, that your work continues to flourish and that in doing so you learn and grow. The collections and work Beautiful Soul produces speaks for itself.
Good luck for future ventures and for your contribution towards making an everyday occurrence a more sustainable and worthy experience.
Perhaps a mens range one day?
Nicola, for many people their dreams just remain in their head but you have actually made yours come true. Well done for all of your hard work and sacrifices. The new website and clothes look amazing. Lots of love, Mr and Mrs L
The website looks great – the clothes come across really well and the comapny ethos is accessible and makes sustainability seem something that can be considered without having to sacrifice any styling or quality (actually seems downright innovative!) – I’m so excited that Beautiful Soul is joining us in Bristol for our Sustainable Fashion Show on October 11th at The Living Room – a real treat for everyone and well earned credit and praise for Nicola – we’re really happy to just be a part of it!

Fashion Week is starting and i am cheering for you and your wonderful collection. You can show the world that sustainable fashion is what to wear to be beyond mere fashion…..to be a person of style!
I am a new designer looking to learn more about the relationships between fashion and the environment. I had not heard of Beautiful soul until today and I wanted to leave you a message to tell you your an inspiration.
